Druimgrianach is pronounced "Drum-gree-an-a"
and Cuil is pronounced "Cool".
About half-way between Fort William and Oban, a tiny road leads off through the trees and opens out onto Cuil Bay, a long shore of meadows and sea-grasses facing across Loch Linnhe to the remote hills of Morven. Silhouetted against the western sky in the middle distance is the small island of Bal-na-Gowan, dwelling of the smiths - where blacksmiths secretly made muskets during the 1745 rebellion.
Bridget Allen's home, Druimgrianach, is set in a sheltered garden with uninterrupted views, only 3 minutes walk from the sea-shore. She welcomes guests to stay for bed and breakfast, and - although there are places to eat within easy driving distance - you are also welcome to have dinner (with advance notice please).
Druimgrianach is a place for lovers of the sea and countryside; walking, picnics on the beach, the nearby seal centre, bicycling, and trips to the islands by ferry from Oban. It's a peaceful and inspiring place; the mountains and sea are always new in the changing light of the western sky. And breakfast was never so good as after a walk along the wide grassland shore in the morning sea-air!
