Top photograph: the sea shore in front of Druimgrianach, the isle of Bal-na-Gowan, the hills of Morven, and Tibbie grazing.

View of the house with sea and hills behind.

About half-way between Fort William and Oban, a tiny road leads off through the trees and opens out onto Cuil Bay, a long shore of meadows and sea-grasses facing across Loch Linnhe to the remote hills of Morven.

Silhouetted against the western sky in the middle distance is the small island of Bal-na-Gowan, dwelling of the smiths - where blacksmiths secretly made muskets during the 1745 rebellion.

This is the romantic setting for Bridget Allen's home, Druimgrianach. A sheltered garden with inspiring uninterrupted views, and only 3 minutes walk from the sea-shore.

Sitting room

It's wonderful place to stay for bed and breakfast, and is light and spacious with a magnificent double height sitting room right; and two bedrooms with private bathrooms for guests, plus an extra bedroom.

Druimgrianach is a place for lovers of the sea and countryside - walking, picnics on the beach, the nearby seal centre, bicycling, and trips to the islands by ferry from Oban.

It's a peaceful and inspiring place; the mountains and sea are always new in the changing light of the western sky.

Breakfast was never so good as after a walk along the wide grassland shore in the morning sea-air...
