Dining at Lerags is altogther an experience to savour; stylish surroundings, and the very best cooking. Bella is from Australia and so brings to her menus a special flair and cosmopolitan awareness; her cooking has won recognition and awards. 3 medallions for home-cooking and a 'Taste of Scotland' accreditation. Bella and Charlie keenly hunt down the best ingredients from around Scotland, and have found lamb and beef from from Ardfern coastal farm (just 30 minutes south of Lerags), fish from D. Watt and son, the fish-monger on the South Pier in Oban, amazing cheeses from all over Scotland... game in season (even woodcock and snipe sometimes), and local dived scallops. Lerags House is licensed and offers a good few good Malt Whiskies, spirits and the usual mixers, liqueurs, port and some special beers (including 'Fraoch' Heather Ale). For dinner, there is an excellent wine list supplied by Oddbins - the majority not available in stores. Also a few wines from the Lowe family wines, from Mudgee, New South Wales. A good selection (not overpriced). Dinner is a 3 course set menu which is changed daily. |

Bella can also make packed lunches if you are out walking for the day. Breakfast is traditional Scottish, the best of Scotland's natural larder - Charles MacLeod of Stornoway Black Pudding, Loch Fyne Kippers, hand-made Taynuilt sausages and real bacon. A lighter Continental breakfast is also offered - also delicious. |
