Julia and Mungo Tulloch welcome guests to stay for bed and breakfast at their home, Heughmill (pronounced shoo-mill with a slight aspirant in the middle) secluded in rural Ayrshire about 6 miles from Prestwick airport. The house used to be a farmhouse and was named after the old mill (left), now a picturesque ruin by a stream and waterfall in the garden.

Apart from the pleasure of visiting Ayrshire for its gentle green landscape and mild climate there's lots of history here, all the places associated with poet Robert Burns, the spectacular cliff-top castle, Culzean, historic churches and monuments, trips to the island of Arran, and world-famous golf at Royal Troon, Prestwick and Western Gailes. These are all within 10 minutes of Heughmill, and Turnberry is only 30 minutes away. Julia and Mungo are happy to help arrange bookings where possible.

You are also welcome to enjoy relaxing in the conservatory below right which has great views, and the Drawing Room below left which has an open fire in cool weather.

Breakfast is served in the Dining Room.

Cooked Scottish breakfast or continental breakfast. Home baking, Heughmill eggs when the hens are laying, and when possible, produce from the Tulloch's garden.

For dinner: There are two restaurants within 2 miles of Heughmill (just 5 minutes drive): The Craigie Inn and Wheatsheaf Inn.
