Slipperfield Loch may not be quite as big as the Atlantic Ocean, but America Cottage is on its Western side and that's why it was named as such by owners Carol and Colin Kilpatrick when it was built forty years ago.
It is near the beginning of the half mile drive through rhododendrons along the water's edge which leads both to Slipperfield House where Carol and Colin live, and their other cottage which is also available for self catering rental. See Loch Cottage
Slipperfield, a hundred acre wooded estate, is just off the A702, 30 minutes drive South West of Edinburgh, a little over a mile from the village of West Linton, and 30 minutes West of the Scottish Borders county town of Peebles. This is the beginning of the Pentland Hills (plenty of rural walking) and you will find the Clyde Valley, Glasgow, the Kingdom of Fife, Stirling and all of central Scotland are well within an easy day's outing. There are lots of details and ideas in the cottage - and you can always ask Carol or Colin for further information.
America Cottage, recently renovated and redecorated and all on one floor, is secluded and surrounded by woodland and lawn, about 100 yards from the Loch. It can accommodate up to 6, but if you are a party of up to 10 it is possible to rent Loch Cottage as well, 5 minutes walk away along the lochside.
