The North Wing of Leny House offers 5 star self catering rental accommodation for up to four just west of Callander in The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park in central Scotland.
Approached by a half mile drive, the house is serenely situated in a quiet and peaceful location with woodland behind and views across the valley over Leny Estate pastures to the Mentieth Hills. The apartment has its own entrance and a sense of privacy.
Alan and Frances Roebuck have spent three years carefully restoring this original part of Leny House, discovering previously inaccessible rooms, hidden doorways and the most thrilling discovery of all - the huge arched stone fireplace of the main hall dating from 1513.
Using original oak timbers, reclaimed oak, reproducing panelling and cornices and discreetly incorporating modern luxury such as underfloor heating to the original flagstones in the hall, they have made a self catering rental apartment of great comfort with a memorably romantic atmosphere.
The North Wing is the original part of the house and was built in 1513 on the site of an earlier castle for the Leny family, from whom it soon passed by marriage to the Buchanans.
In the middle of the 1700s it was a place for secret meetings and arms storage during the Jacobite rebellion.
The tower and south wing where Alan and Frances Roebuck live, was added by architect David Bryce in 1845.
The surrounding area area is of great natural beauty, with waterfalls, old woodlands, heather moorland, and hills and glens with many stories of the Jacobite rebellion and the exploits of Rob Roy.
