The Lorn Farm is a ten acre small-holding on the South East shore of Loch Lomond in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Gavin and Claire Maclellan who with their young family live in the farmhouse, have converted the 18th century water mill (on the right in the photograph above) to provide three twenty-first century apartments; simple, comfortable and stylish self-catering accommodation.
The Lorn Farm is hidden down a long private drive in a remote and secluded part of the gentle wooded and grassland slopes which go down to the shore. It is situated in a slight hollow, a sunny micro-climate which has allowed garden plants and woodland to flourish. There is also the original mill pond and mill wheel.
The farm has some of the best views of the Loch looking to Ben Lomond and the Arrochar Alps. This is very much a country location. There are domestic geese, abundant wild birds (including birds of prey), wild geese in winter on neighbouring fields, and in the grounds within a short walk you will find wide variety of flora and fauna.
Despite the countryside seclusion at Lorn Farm, Glasgow Airport is only 30 minutes away and there is a train station in nearby Balloch which takes you to Glasgow in just 40 minutes.
The Lorn Farm is ideal as a base for: Hill walking, Water-skiing, Launching your own boat in nearby Balloch (Boats can be securely stored), Bird watching, Boat trips on Loch Lomond, Fishing, Cycling, Whisky Distillery visiting, and visiting Glasgow.
