At the end of a single-track road, only 50 yards from the sea stands Achduart Cottage, stone-built in the traditional style. The village of Achiltibuie with its shops and celebrated Summer Isles Hotel/Restaurant lies 4 miles east of the cottage in Wester Ross, north-west of Ullapool. Completely private, it stands in its own secluded garden with a small burn running through it. There is also access to a large five-acre garden where many unusual plants are to be found in the woodland. The open views to the south across Loch Broom to the Dundonnell Mountains are quite breathtaking as are those to the west and the Summer Isles while those at the rear look across to the rocky summit of Ben Mor Coigach.
Achduart Cottage has been refurbished to a high standard and is very cosy with its pine-panelling and double-glazing throughout. You can enjoy these spectacular views from the large sunroom where the sight of the ferry sailing to and from Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides may encourage you to take a day trip.
Ideally sitauated for exploring the magnificent landscape of beaches, islands, cliffs, mountains, lochs and moorlands of this isolated, beautiful part of Scotland, Achduart Cottage also provides a haven for those wanting only to relax and unwind or observe the wild life – whales, seals, deer, golden eagles, ptarmigan and, of course, the many sea birds.
