You might think you were the only folk on earth, were it not for the lights of Tobermory twinkling at you of an evening across the Sound of Mull! Perched 500 feet above the Sound, Achleanan Farmhouse enjoys stunning views across to the mountains of Mull and out to the Atlantic beyond. The house is surrounded by pasture and moorland, which is home to Scottish Blackface sheep, Galloway and Highland cattle, and roe and red deer. The farm was once a producer of flax for linen, with the old stone flax tank still standing behind the house.

View of Achleanan Farmhouse Situated in the 5,000 acres of the private Drimnin Estate, Achleanan is a place of great tranquillity, with the nearest habitation half a mile away. Guests have access to the Estate's eight miles of coastline; its moors, valleys and native woodland; and the historic ruins of a Victorian chapel, Stone Age fort and walled crofting village.

View frm Achleanan Farmhouse Golden and sea eagles, pine martens and otters can all be seen on the Estate. There are plenty of walks within the Estate - over hills, along the private track to the old ferry inn on Loch Sunart and around the coast. A passenger ferry runs from Drimnin pier to Tobermory on Mondays and Fridays, allowing shopping and a visit to the scene of the Balamory television series. There is also a ferry which plies back and forth every day between Lochaline (11 miles, hotel and restaurant) and Fishnish on Mull (no booking necessary), which is handier for a visit to the south of the island and Iona.
