Arrowdale and Innis Bheatha Cottage
Badachro
near Gairloch
Two cottages, sleeping 8 (9) and 7
Arrowdale
Arrowdale is a traditional, whitewashed stone-built farmhouse which sits, secluded and peaceful, in 2 acres of garden, with rolling lawns, shrubberies and flower beds (furniture, barbecue), on the shores of Loch Shieldaig, Gairloch, in one of the loveliest parts of Scotland's west coast. It has beautiful views across the loch, and guests have further access to 22 acres of mature woodland round about.
Inside, the house is spacious and beautifully furnished in 'Laura Ashley' style. In addition to the large, L-shaped sitting room with its open fire and picture window overlooking the garden and loch, there is a separate dining room and a library with a wide selection of books, magazines, chess board, desk etc. Between them, the kitchen and utility room have all modern conveniences. There is a ground floor master bedroom with dressing room and en suite bathroom, two more bedrooms on the first floor and a spacious attic bedroom. (The access, however, has limited headroom making it an ideal den for older children.) There are a further two bathrooms, one on the ground and one on the first floor.
Gairloch itself is a scattered community with a hotel, shops and seafood restaurant. It is a useful base for walking in spectacular Torridon, and its other attraction is the many secluded and sandy beaches around this stretch of coast. Nearby Badachro has an excellent pub, where you can sit in the garden and watch the boats go by, for this is a popular yachting venue. The delightful coastal walks provide excellent opportunities for bird watching and spotting seals, dolphins and even the odd whale, or you can take a boat trip from Gairloch for the same purpose. It's a most pleasant way of exploring this coastline. Another local must-see is the subtropical gardens at Inverewe.
The house has full central heating (
included). Electricity and fuel for the open fire, bed linen and towels are all
included. Up to two well behaved pets are welcome by arrangement.

Innis Bheatha Cottage (sleeps 7)
A picture book cottage set in a heavenly situation in one of the loveliest areas of Scotland - what could be better for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday? This is what awaits you at Innis Bheatha (pronounced Innish Vecha - the meadow of the birches), a traditional whitewashed Highland croft house set in an idyllic garden (furniture) and surrounded by 3_ acres of private fenced ground and with access to a further 22 acres of mature woodland. It is situated on the Southern shore of Loch Shieldaig, next to the picturesque village of Badachro.
Inside, you will find a beautifully appointed, spacious and comfortable house. All the rooms are furnished to a very high standard in a delightfully cottagey style. The large sitting room has a natural stone wall in which is set a welcoming open fire. There is a further small sitting room, also with open fire, and a separate dining room, so there is plenty of room for tenants to spread themselves. There is a large, farmhouse-style kitchen with Aga, and a bathroom and separate shower room on this level. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms, one en suite, a twin bedroom and a single bedroom, making this very versatile accommodation indeed.
Badachro is just three miles south of the popular crofting township of Gairloch and a mecca for sailors. It boasts an excellent pub, the Badachro Inn, where you can relax in the garden and watch the boats sail past. Five miles further on, the wee road winds round to Redpoint, where there are amazing beaches of peach-coloured sand. There is a superb (though long) walk from there round to Lower Diabaig.
It is the glorious coastline, with its outcrops and many hidden sandy beaches, which is the real attraction of the area. There is excellent fishing round about; this is a good base for walkers wishing to tackle the challenges of Torridon, and bird watchers too will find themselves well catered for. And of course no stay in the area is complete without a visit to the magnificent sub-tropical gardens at Poolewe.
Bed linen, towels, heating, electricity, logs and coal are all
included. Up to two well behaved pets are welcome and groceries can be supplied, by prior arrangement , for your arrival.
