Argyll

Two properties, sleeping 8 and 6

The 31,000 acre Auch Estate lies amid some of the most awe-inspiring scenery in the West of Scotland, between Ben Dorain and Beinn Chaorach and centred on the majestic glen which runs north from Tyndrum towards Rannoch Moor and Glencoe.

View

The West Highland Way traverses the glen and passes within a few hundred yards of the cottages here. You can fish for trout in season in the River Orchy and in Loch Lyon, and shooting and stalking can also be arranged at the appropriate times of year. This is a paradise for walkers, climbers and sportsmen, but the abundance of wildlife will also delight those whose tastes are less strenuous and who prefer to savour the peace and solitude of these magnificent surroundings.

Viaduct

Even railway enthusiasts are catered for in this wild and isolated landscape as two imposing viaducts are close by, very similar to the one filmed at Glenfinnan with the Hogwarts Express (and let us not forget that scenes from the Harry Potter films were made just up the road at Glencoe!)

Lying only half a mile from the A82 trunk road, the Estate is very well placed for exploring in all directions. Glencoe is just 16 miles to the northwest, offering ski-ing in winter and legendary walking and climbing, and Oban and Fort William are both about 40 miles away. From Oban you can take boat trips to Mull, Iona, Staffa and other islands, while from Fort William you can take the Jacobite steam train out to Mallaig, (and actually cross the Glenfinnan viaduct!).

To the south you are only 17 miles from the northern end of Loch Lomond with its famous golf courses, boating and sailing. From thee you can easily reach the Trossachs, Loch Katrine and even Glasgow.

Tyndrum has the nearest shops, hotels, garage, etc and there is also a hotel and rail halt at Bridge of Orchy. Bed linen, towels, heating and electricity are all included!included in the rental. The estate is a working farm, so guess should be aware that there may occasionally be farm vehicles about and dogs should be kept under control. Up to three well-behaved dogs welcome be arrangement, but sorry no cats, and smoking is not permitted in the cottages.

Kinglass Cottage

Kinglass Cottage (sleeps 8)

Kinglass Cottage is a spacious, semi-detached cottage in a courtyard setting near the main Lodge.  It has a delightful little reception area with comfy chairs, a very large farmhouse style dining kitchen, a 'two-part' sitting room (there is a quiet end for guests who wish to read or prefer other tranquil pursuits, and a main area with open fire and television etc), two twin bedrooms and two doubles, one with en suite facilities.

Centrally heated and extremely comfortable, it is therefore a perfect setting for two families wishing to holiday together or larger parties in general. There is ample parking at the door and guests have access to the grass garden across the courtyard.
