Bonahaven View from the house Bonahaven Bonahaven

Sleeping 5

You have a choice of routes to the village of Colintraive (pronounced Colin-tryve): the 'High Road' via Loch Lomond, the Arrochar Alps and down Loch Fyne, or the 'Low Road' via the Gourock-Dunoon ferry (no booking necessary) and then round the head of Loch Striven to the Kyles of Bute. From Colintraive the single-track road winds round Strone Point to end on the shores of Loch Striven.

Just outside the village, on a hillside overlooking the sea is Bonahaven, a solidly-built and imposing detached house in its own large garden with wonderful views across the water. This is a family home, perfect for a quiet and refreshing holiday and with the extra comfort of central heating. The sitting room has a multi-fuel stove for added warmth and a picture window for making the most of the view. On this floor there is also a conservatory/dining-room. Upstairs are three bedrooms, one with an en suite shower room, and a further bathroom.

About a half mile stroll from the house stands the village hotel with bar and a very good restaurant. There is also a shop/PO in the village. Dunoon, only 20 miles away, is slightly more urban with a leisure centre and supermarkets for more serious shopping.

There is a half-hourly ferry between Colintraive and the Isle of Bute, a popular tourist destination, particularly Rothesay with the impressive Mount Stuart and Rothesay Castle. Colintraive is a popular centre for yachtsmen and there is a slipway in the village where you can bring your own boat by arrangement.

There are plenty of opportunities for walking and golf here. This is a beautiful area of Scotland with many picturesque lochs and bays well worth exploring from Inveraray down through the Mull of Kintyre.

Bed linen, towels, electricity and the first £20 of oil-CH are included!included in the rental. Sorry, pets are not accepted and smoking is not permitted within the cottage. Wi-fi included, subject to provider.
