Bridge Cottage

Sleeps 2

This delightful little cottage in the picturesque conservation village of Fordyce is situated a short distance inland between the historic fishing towns of Portsoy and Banff with its spectacular Moray Firth coastline on Scotland's beautiful North East coast. Famed for its long beautiful sandy beaches, majestic cliffs and secluded coves, the area offers many visitor attractions such as the Speyside Whisky Trail with all its distilleries and countless historical sites but is still within easy travelling distance of popular tourist destinations of Aberdeen (55 miles), Inverness (65 miles) and Elgin (26 miles).

Nestling in the valley, within one of the most charming hamlets in Scotland, Fordyce Village dates from medieval times with perfectly preserved houses clustered around its 13th century church and 16th century castle. One of these traditional, pretty little houses is Bridge Cottage. As its name suggests, it stands right beside the little arched bridge over the stream which flows just over the wall from its quiet and peaceful 'sun-trap' of a garden.

A classic 'chocolate box' cottage on the outside, inside the cottage has been renovated to the highest 21st century standards, styled with many romantic touches. The attractive, beamed ceiling living area has a lovely exposed stone wall round the fireplace which houses a cosy wood burning stove, there is a small dining area and a door which leads out to a small raised deck and steps down to the garden. Also on this level is a modern and well equipped kitchen, a small utility room and a spacious and stylishly designed wet room with shower, WC and wash hand basin. Stairs from the living area lead downstairs to a tastefully furnished double bedroom.

The charm of this picture perfect village is epitomised in the nearby shop and cafe which are situated within the living room of a large house in the village, which though a little bit eccentric and very unique, has proven to be hugely popular, being a significant draw to the village. The surrounding area is no less attractive, with miles of woodland paths to explore, and within just a short distance of this sunny coast, a variety of sandy beaches, quaint fishing villages, excellent golf courses and many other leisure facilities.

Bed linen, towels, heating and electricity are all included!included. A starter pack of firewood is also included!included. Sorry, pets are not accepted and smoking is not permitted in the cottage.
