Buckhood Cottage is a typical old stone-built cottage standing on a large (6,000 acres) private country Estate about 27 miles north of Dundee at the head of Glen Prosen, one of the well-known Angus glens which was particularly dear to J.M. Barrie, author of Peter Pan, and to Captain Scott who actually planned his final Antarctic expedition there.

The cottage has a beautiful and very private setting, alone amidst green fields with high heather-covered hills behind and splendid views across the glen. Inside, it has been skillfully and attractively renovated with pine-panelling and a multi-fuel stove helping preserve the original snug atmosphere. This cottage is ideal for families and for lovers of the outdoors.

There is superb walking all around (the 'whisky road' used by smugglers through Glen Lethnot is worth a try), bird-watching and climbing (2 Munros). The Estate offers horse-riding, fishing and bicycles for hire. The area abounds in golf courses (Carnoustie); there are castles (Glamis); museums ( Scott's Royal Research Ship 'Discovery' in Dundee), and an interesting coastline with sandy beaches, perfect for day trips. During the winter season you can enjoy cross-country skiing and downhill skiing at Glenshee, 25 miles away.

Heating is by multi-fuel stove and electric night-storage heaters. Bed-linen is included!included and towels can be hired. Pets are welcome but must be kept on a lead within the Estate.
