The Ale Valley lies in the midst of the green hills of the Scottish Borders and Burnfoot Cottage sits right next to the Alewater. Formerly a farm-worker's cottage, Burnfoot has been converted into a delightful, semi-detached holiday home.

Burnfoot Cottage

The cottage stands within its own sheltered and fenced garden. One of its most attractive features is the conservatory dining room overlooking the river behind the house. You can always enjoy the view of your surroundings from here, no matter the weather outside. Burnfoot Cottage has oil-fired central heating so is warm, comfortable and full of character. In the sitting room there is a multi-fuel stove, downstairs there is one double bedroom and upstairs, at the top of some rather steep stairs, there is a second double bedroom with coombed ceilings. The bathroom, also upstairs, has a separate shower cubicle.

Although the cottage is in a peaceful location off the beaten track it is, in fact, fairly centrally placed to enjoy what is on offer in the surrounding area. The nearest pub is only half a mile away at the Woll golf course and there is another one, 2 miles away, in the village of Ashkirk, where you will also find riding stables.

The town of Selkirk (6m) has shops, hotels, swimming pool etc. You can arrange to fish in the Ale water itself or in one of the many stocked lochs or other rivers in the locality. Beautiful and isolated among the hills, St Mary's Loch is perfect if you have your own boat or wind surfer. Walkers will find countless possibilities in all directions while the river Tweed has many stretches suitable for canoeists. For something less energetic you can visit the many castles, stately homes and ruined abbeys in the area and if that doesn't keep you occupied Edinburgh is little more than an hour away by car.

Bed linen, towels, electricity and oil-CH are all included!included. Well behaved pets are welcome by arrangement. Smoking is not permitted within the property.
