Dallens Cottage will appeal to all those who love a ringside seat! This comfortable and immaculately appointed holiday cottage has an enviable location right on the shore of Loch Laich, a branch of Loch Linnhe on Scotland's dramatic west coast, with what must surely be the most memorable view in the area, the legendary Scottish monument, Castle Stalker, famous from its many calendar appearances.

The house stands in about half an acre of private garden, surrounded by a wall and hedging, in tranquil surroundings, at the end of a track. There is sufficient parking for several vehicles.

The extensive picture windows and a large decking area at the front (furniture) give you the perfect viewpoint for observing the ever-changing seascape. From time to time horses from the local riding school canter across the beach at low tide adding yet another touch of romance to this near-idyllic scene. Evenings bring breathtaking sunsets as the sun goes down behind the island of Lismore in a blaze of vivid colours. The new Oban-Fort William Cycle Way is nearing completion and families can take advantage of being able to join this safe cycle track which passes about 50 yards from the house.

Dallens Cottage is beautifully furnished and well equipped. There is an oil-fired Aga in the kitchen (as well as an electric hob and oven for non-Aga hands) and the sitting room has a wood-burning stove which keeps the house warm regardless of the weather. With four bedrooms (one en-suite) the cottage is a comfortable and roomy home perfect for relaxing in and a good base for enjoying the local attractions. The kitchen and both bathrooms have been completely refurbished for 2010.

This is the district of Appin made famous by R L Stevenson in his novel Kidnapped. 3 miles away are the well-known restaurants at Aird's Hotel and the Pierhouse restaurant at Port Appin (PO/shop), where the little ferry can be taken across to the island of Lismore.

Alternatively, you can take a stroll up the hill to the Stalker View visitor centre where the coffee shop serves first class light meals. The riding stables mentioned above are less than a mile away.

15 miles away at Ballachulish you will find more shops and hotels plus a golf course and of course the road to Glencoe where there are opportunities for walking, climbing and skiing (in season). Going south towards Oban (22m, all facilities and ferry connections to Mull, Staffa, Iona etc.), there is a wonderful safe beach at Ardmucknish. Going north you reach Fort William (24m, all facilities, boat trips, dry ski slope, leisure centre and Ben Nevis). Dallens Cottage really is centrally placed for exploring much of the best on offer in Scotland.
