7 Harbour Street
Nr Plockton

Sleeping 6

The National Trust village of Plockton, a few miles north of the Skye Bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh, was built as a model village for the Scottish Highlands in the 1930s and, with its palm-lined lochside street, is surely one of the most picturesque villages in Scotland.

In a prime situation here, just across the narrow road from the loch, is 7 Harbour Street, a charming traditional house built using the foundations and walls of a 150 year old cottage. It has now been fabulously extended and refurbished to create the most comfortable and stylish of holiday homes. The front garden (furniture) across the road, abuts the shore and has wonderful views of Obanduaine Bay, while to the rear is a large hillside terrace and pine garden, ideal for private barbecues, where you may also spot the pine martens and other forest creatures which live on the hill above.

The house is on three levels, with two twin bedrooms and bathroom on the ground floor, and an open plan dining kitchen and conservatory on a mezzanine level, where floor to ceiling glass windows open on to the alpine terrace garden at the back. The living room and en suite master bedroom are on the floor above, again with wonderful views over the Bay (which you may well recognise from many paintings and calendar pages).

Plockton is blessed with some excellent little shops and, for a place so small, a dizzying array of excellent eating places. Sailors will know of its welcoming harbour, which also offers boat and fishing trips and kayak tuition. Walkers and climbers will be spoiled for choice and there is a golf course at Lochcarron. It is also a splendid centre for exploring Skye, Lochcarron, Torridon, the Applecross peninsula and places north, all of which offer some of the most dramatic and glorious scenery in the whole of Scotland

Bed linen, towels, gas, electricity and oil-CH are included!included in the rental. Sorry pets are not accepted and smoking is not permitted in the cottage. Wi-Fi is available, subject to provider.
