Hillockhead Cottage is a delightful little house, very comfortable and with lots of light and space. It is well positioned for discovering the beautiful Angus glens and places further north such as Braemar or the Angus and Aberdeenshire coast.
The sitting room faces south and has French doors opening on to a pretty grass garden (furniture) where you can enjoy relaxing on a pleasant summer evening or admire the open views across lovely countryside to the distant hills.
Glen Isla, the closest glen to the cottage, is ideal walking country. There is a splendid beach at Lunan Bay some 35 miles away while Kirriemuir (6m) has all facilities and a fine golf course. Speaking of golf, the championship course at Carnoustie is easy to reach from the cottage. You can fish locally – Lintrathen Reservoir is just up the road, as is an RSPB reserve.
If you miss city life, try a visit to Dundee (24m) where you can view Captain Scott's vessel Discovery moored in the harbour. From Dundee, the Tay Bridge leads you across to Fife and famous St Andrews. Glamis Castle, family home of the late Queen Mother, is 7 miles down the road and certainly merits a visit.
Perth (25m) is a pleasant town with a good variety of shops and a full choice of leisure facilities. Pitlochry and its well-known 'Theatre in the Hills' is 34 miles away.
Oil central heating, electricity and bed linen are included and towels may be hired. One well behaved dog welcome by arrangement. Sorry, no smoking in the cottage.
