The House in the Bay has a quite unique situation amid the superb scenery of Badachro Bay on Scotland's magnificent west coast. This is a privately owned little island, where the only other inhabitants are the owners themselves, who have fished these waters for generations. It is accessible at all times by a floating bridge or on foot at low tide. You leave your car and your worries behind on the mainland (private car park) and prepare to relax amid your tranquil and beautiful surroundings.

Here, you may see seals, otters, pine martens and a wonderful range of bird life. There is a mooring, if you wish to bring your own boat, or a rowing boat and life jackets are available free of charge (at users' own risk.) Bikes and helmets are also available on the same basis. There are fine sandy beaches within a 5 minute drive of the property, horse riding 5 miles away and the local inn, which serves good food, is within a 10 minute walk. Alternatively, you could catch your own shellfish from a traditional wooden fishing boat direct from Dry Island Pier! There are shops at Gairloch (5m).

Hill walkers will know that the legendary mountains of Torridon await them here, while there is a nine hole golf course at Gairloch and the famous tropical gardens at Inverewe (10m).

The apartment itself is part of a B-listed building which is at least 300 years old. While therefore traditional in style, it is comfortably appointed and is cosied by its night storage and panel heaters. Because it is a five minute walk via a path (sometimes quite rough) and a bridge from the car park, visitors should be equipped with stout footwear and the cottage, therefore, is not really suitable for those with walking difficulties. There is a suntrap seating area outside (BBQ), from which to enjoy the wonderful sea views.

The owners have provided all sorts of thoughtful extras, such as a picnic rug and basket, fishing lines and watercolour painting equipment, just in case you feel inspired to capture a glorious West Coast sunset on paper!

Electricity and bed linen are included and towels may be hired. Sorry, no pets or smokers.
