Hunter's Lodge
Bridge of Allan
Stirlingshire
Sleeps 5(6)
Bridge of Allan near Stirling in the very centre of Scotland, is an elegant Victorian spa village which has long been popular as a holiday destination. Here, almost at the end of a broad and peaceful cul de sac, yet within walking distance of the Main Street, which is full of interesting shops and excellent eating places, is Hunter's Lodge, a delightful detached chalet in its own secluded grass garden (furniture, barbecue) with driveway for three cars.
Inside, the house has been beautifully appointed by the owner, who is a spatial designer. Downstairs there is a well-equipped dining kitchen, a cosy sitting room with multi-fuel stove, a double bedroom with en suite shower room and French doors to the garden, and a further state-of-the-art bathroom. Stairs lead up from the corner of the sitting room to two further bedrooms, both with Juliet balconies and a further shower room.
Hunter's Lodge really does deliver everything you could wish for. There is secure storage for bikes and other sporting equipment . The upstairs Velux windows afford dramatic and uninterrupted views of the iconic Wallace Monument. The house sleeps five, with an extra pull-out bed for a further guest (additional charge) if required.
Its situation too could hardly be bettered. Not only is it in easy reach of many of Scotland's premier attractions - Stirling Castle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, Fife and St Andrews, Perth and the Highlands beyond. All can be easily reached by excellent road connections or by rail, for the village also has a station.
A further advantage is its proximity to Stirling University, which frequently plays host to Open University courses, while any children in the party will be delighted by a day out at the nearby Blair Drummond Safari Park.
For active guests, too, there is no shortage of things to do in the area. Walking, cycling, riding, golf, all are available within a very short distance, as you would expect from somewhere that is so very close to the hub of things.
Bed linen, towels, electricity and the first £20 of gas central heating are
included in the rental. Sorry, pets are not accepted and smoking is not permitted in the cottage.
