This charming cottage enjoys a prime position in the grounds of the owner's house, in a secluded spot at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac yet within a short stroll of the centre of Dumfries, a lively town in the south west of Scotland. The cottage is surrounded by garden (furniture) with a large orchard, also part of the grounds, on one side – a safe place for children to play.

The cottage will be attractive to different groups of visitor: to families, to bird lovers and to sportsmen who will enjoy the world class fishing and shooting. The flight path of geese heading for feeding grounds at Caerlaverock (Wildlife and Wetlands Trust Centre) passes right overhead. The RSPB also have another centre on the opposite side of the river Nith near Sandyhills.

The accommodation inside is extremely comfortable and includes a cheerful living room, well-appointed kitchen and two bedrooms. The table and chairs in the attractive porch-sunroom can be used either for dining or just for sitting to unwind while enjoying the garden view.

The town of Dumfries has a lot to offer: an ice rink, railway station, a new leisure centre and a golf course – all only a walk away from the cottage. There is no shortage of restaurants and pubs. The Mabie Forest biking facility, part of 7 Stanes Project, is also in the vicinity

Looking out to the garden

It is easy to reach Dumfries from the M6/A74 and you will find splendid beaches 7 miles away on the Solway coast. The whole area of Dumfries and Galloway is worth exploring with attractions such as the beautiful Galloway Forest Park around Glen Trool, the 'foodies' town of Castle Douglas and lovely Sweetheart Abbey. Walking enthusiasts can join the Southern Upland Way at St John's Town of Dalry, 25 miles from the cottage.

Gas-CH, bedlinen and towels are all included!included in the rental. Well behaved pets are welcome by arrangement. Smoking should be confined to the porch. Wi-fi included, subject to provider.
