Mabon Law,
near Hawick,
Roxburghshire.
Sleeps 5
Is a traditional detached former shepherds cottage which has spectacular setting in the Border Hills just 5 miles from the main Carlisle - Edinburgh (A7) road and Hawick.
Recently and carefully renovated in a pleasant country style, well- equipped and with good central-heating.
Once it becomes known, TRUE countrylovers will queue for this cottage - offered now for the first time as a holiday cottage. 1,000ft up in the Border Hills, at the end of a one-mile track - completely hidden from all except skylarks and sparrow-hawks up above - the house has an absolutely stupendous view stretching south-west for some 60 miles (without a house in sight) to the distant hills that border England. No-one overlooks it.
This was an old stone cottage originally occupied by the Estate shepherd who lived here happily with his family while tending his flocks on the lush green meadows that surround it, and it is still a location where children can run wild in safety and will probably never be in the house!
There is a piano and, in the adjoining barn, table tennis, darts, and even a resident owl.
All the rich Border Countryside is on your doorstep, with Dumfries and Galloway, Edinburgh, The Lake District and Northumbria within easy visiting distance.
Heating is by oil central heating (
included), wood-burning stove and open-fire. Bed-linen and towels are available for hire. Pets are welcome. No smoking in the house.
