Mallard Cottage
Near Lochgilphead

Sleeps 5

The picturesque village of Tayvallich, some 11 miles from Lochgilphead (all facilities, leisure centre golf course) on Scotland's west coast, clusters round an inlet of Loch Sween and is a popular yachting haven.

And when we say that Mallard Cottage is situated right on the water here, we do not exaggerate, for the decking area in front of it extends to within a few feet of the shoreline! Stunningly situated then, and scarcely less stunning inside. The ground floor is largely given over to an extensive open plan, double height living area, one wall completely of glass with doors opening to the decking. Also on this level are two bedrooms and a shower room. Stairs lead to a galleried landing looking down on to the sitting room, a master bedroom and bathroom. It is all very light and airy, designed to make the most of the spectacular situation and furnished to a high standard.

A mooring and pontoon may be available if you wish to bring your own boat.

Tayvallich is an enchanting wee place, with shop, inn and cafe. There is a beach just across on the Atlantic side of the isthmus (about 1.25 m) at Carsaig Bay. You can also drive down the shores of Loch Sween, perhaps visiting Castle Sween and the Kilmory Knap Chapel on the way. There are lots of pleasant little beaches there too, and some exciting caves at the end of the road!

Further afield, Loch Awe, Oban and the west coast and, to the south, the Mull of Kintyreall make for great days out. There is plenty of good walking to be enjoyed, and fishing too. This really is just the place for the most relaxing and enjoyable of holidays.

Underfloor electric CH (included!£30 included). Bed linen and towels are included!included. Sorry, no pets or smoking in the cottage. Wifi available, subject to provider.
