Mill Cottage

Mill Cottage (sleeps 6)

Mull is the most enchanting of Scottish islands which really does have it all, glorious scenery, quiet sea inlets, some superb beaches and its picture book 'capital', Tobermory (42m) with its painted houses and the site of the Balamory children's TV series.

And at its tip, just a few miles from the Mill Cottage, is lovely Iona with its amazing atmosphere, accessed by a foot ferry from Fionnphort. Boat trips from Fionnphort will also take you to the geological wonder of Staffa, with the remarkable Fingal's Cave.

The view from Mill Cottage

Mill Cottage is a delightful, traditional stone cottage in the little village of Bunessan (which gave its name to the Gaelic air which is now well-known tune of 'Morning has Broken'), just a short walk from its shops and licensed hotel, and there are other good eating places within a short drive.

The cottage is centrally heated, comfortable and very well appointed with two upstairs bedrooms and one downstairs, a well equipped kitchen-diner, cosy sitting room with multi-fuel stove. It is quietly situated off the single-track road to Bunessan with its own fenced garden (parking) through which runs a small burn. The owner lives in a small cottage extension adjoining one of the gable ends.

This is an excellent place for a family holiday. In addition to the boat trips mentioned above, there are sandy beaches and quiet coves nearby. You can sail, dive, fish, walk the surrounding hills, and Mull also has two golf courses, the nearest of which is at Craignure (31m). That's where you will land if you come by car ferry from Oban. (There is another, less expensive ferry which operates between Lochaline and Fishnish - no booking necessary.) Lovers of birds and wildlife can look out for buzzards and eagles and Minke whales and basking sharks in the surrounding waters.

Oil central heating, electricity, fuel for the stove, bed linen and towels are all included!included in the rental. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement.
