Raasay Lodge
Strontian
Argyll
Sleeping 4 (6)
This Scandinavian log cabin occupies a stunning situation on a hillside above Loch Sunart, and offers tranquil, spacious and comfortable accommodation for those wishing to unwind and relax in one of the loveliest spots on Scotland's beautiful west coast.
South facing, centrally heated and double-glazed, and thus snug and cosy all year round, the cabin has a spacious living area with glorious views over the loch, a well-equipped kitchen and three bedrooms, sleeping a total of six people. It is one of several cabins scattered around the hillside in its own natural surroundings and is superbly positioned, approximately 100 yds from the loch shore.
The charming village of Strontian has shops, a bistro and an hotel, all of which are within an easy stroll of the cabin. You are also excellently placed for exploring westwards along the loch to Ardnamurchan Point, the most westerly point of mainland Britain, or the silver sands of Arisaig (38m) and Morar (links golf course) and the end of the Road to the Isles at Mallaig (48m) where you can take the 25 minute ferry crossing across to Skye for the day. Another island-hopping possibility is to trundle down to Lochaline (19m) where the little ferry will take you across to Mull, from where Iona and Staffa can be visited. For a bit of urban bustle, you are only 20 minutes drive from the Corran Ferry (no booking necessary) and a further short drive will have you in Fort William (all facilities, leisure centre, boat trips etc.).
The area abounds in wildlife - deer, pine marten, otters, buzzards, eagles to name but a few. The hills behind the cabin offer wonderful walking opportunities and fishing can be arranged.
