Seaspray Cottage
Gardenstown
Banffshire
Sleeps 2 (4)
The village of Gardenstown, on the sunny Moray Coast, is a particularly picturesque and attractive one, which swarms up the cliffs from the harbour on a series of terraces linked by little pedestrian walkways. However, it is right down by the harbour that you will find Seaspray Cottage, a beautifully converted, charming, and completely self-contained holiday home for two people. It is extremely spacious, with a very well-equipped kitchen-diner, a large and comfortable living room and an even more spacious double bedroom upstairs with an additional sofa bed which would effectively turn it into a family room. Outside there is a patio (furniture), and the house is only a few yards from the harbour itself.
There is car access to the door on the one road which does lead from the top to the bottom of the village. Gardenstown has an Inn and a small general store, while Banff and Macduff are on hand for more serious shopping. The village also has an excellent sandy beach.
This is a great area for walking - along the Coastal Way or, inland, along the Speyside Way. The walk under the cliffs to the unique little village of Crovie is also well worth undertaking. River and sea fishing, golfing on several excellent links courses, seal, porpoise and even whale spotting are other enjoyable activities on offer here. For wet days (though this is reputedly the sunniest part of the British Isles) there is the National Gallery at Duff House in Banff, and such stately homes as Haddo House, Leith Hall and Fyvie Castle to visit.
Heating by electricity, bed linen and towels are all
included. Up to two pets by arrangement. No smoking in the cottage.
