View of Sea Wrack House

Sea Wrack House, on Isle Ornsay Bay on Skye, is a marvellous modern property only a 15 minute drive from both the Skye Bridge and the Armadale car ferry. Although it shares the bay with Tides Reach (and parking, two spaces for each property) the other house is screened off, thereby granting complete privacy to both. Sea Wrack House stands only a few yards from the rocky shore and you can sit at the windows watching seals, deer, herons, oyster catchers and even timid otters at the water's edge.

View from Sea Wrack House

The house has been designed, furnished and equipped to a very high standard. The large farmhouse style kitchen is open plan to the dining area. You then proceed through to the sitting room which has a wood-burning stove. All have wonderful views over the water, which can also be enjoyed from the decking (furniture) in front of the house. One twin bedroom and shower room is downstairs, while the upstairs master bedroom has a large, sheltered balcony and is en suite. There are two more bedrooms and a further bathroom upstairs.

An easy stroll will take you to the Eilean Iarmain Hotel (restaurant, ceilidhs) and also nearby is the Prabann na Linne Gaelic Whisky Company.

From the house you can enjoy stunning views across the Sound of Sleat (pronounced 'slate') to the mainland. On the tidal Isle of Ornsay there is a Stevenson lighthouse, right on the point.

There are ample opportunities for walking or touring in this region, either by bike or by car, while walkers and climbers will doubtless be making for the Cuillins. Broadford (9m, shops, restaurants, hotels) is the nearest town while in the other direction are the Armadale Castle Gardens and Visitor Centre and boat trips starting at Ardvasar. From the other side of the peninsula, around Ord, there are stretches of machair which are perfect for picnics, with glorious views across to the Red Cuillin.

Heating is by wood-burning stove and oil central heating included to a value of £20, any excess to be paid to the Caretaker on departure from the property. Bed-linen is included!included and towels are available for hire. Pets may be accepted by prior arrangement. A refundable damage deposit may apply. Wi-Fi is available, subject to provider.
