Stables Cottage

Stables Cottage
St Boswells
Scottish Borders

Sleeping 3

In a pretty courtyard setting, just off a little lane in the charming Borders village of St Boswells, about 40 miles south of Edinburgh, is Stables Cottage.

This completely refurbished holiday home has been designed and insulated to the highest modern standard. It occupies part of what were once the stables for the big house up the hill and is a sister property to the popular Groom's Cottage, which is just across the yard.

All on one level, with wheelchair-friendly doors and ramp access, inside it has been furnished and equipped to a very high standard. There is a gracious sitting room with imitation gas log-burner for additional comfort and atmosphere, an excellent and very spacious dining kitchen and a small sun room.

River Tweed near the cottage

One of the double bedrooms has en suite facilities, with a walk-in bath and separate shower. There is a second double bedroom, also with en suite facilities (additional charge) for an additional guest or in case separate rooms are preferred. However, the total number of guests is restricted to three.

St Boswells is a most attractive village with a picturesque village green, pub, shops and a superb café/bookshop/delicatessen, all of which are within a few minutes' stroll of the cottage.

In the other direction, up and over the hill, are the famous River Tweed and a riverside golf course, which can be reached equally quickly. There is also a regular bus service up to Edinburgh.

Sunset overthe Eildon Hills

The village is also centrally and ideally situated for enjoying all the attractions of this scenic and historic area. Melrose, nestling under the Eildon Hills, with it historic abbey, is only 5 miles away. Jedburgh, also with abbey, jail and Mary Queen of Scots' house, is only 9 miles to the south.

To the east you can be on the coast in under an hour, perhaps relaxing on the sandy beach at Coldingham, or marvelling at the seabird colonies on the dramatic cliffs at St Abbs. Then there are all the stately homes, peel towers and castles in which the area is particularly rich, while for active guests, fishing, walking, mountain biking, riding and golfing are all to hand.

Bed linen and towels are £15 included!included. The first £10 of electricity £15 included!included with any additional usage payable by meter reading at the end of your stay.
