Strathkanaird,
near Ullapool
Sleeps 4
Ullapool in the north-western Highlands is a popular destination with holiday visitors, and just 7 miles north of this busy little town, above a valley in the hills called Strathkanaird which is watered by the River Kanaird as it meanders down to the coast and Isle Martin (bird sanctuary) in Loch Broom, is this much sought-after, modern and comfortable, detached holiday cottage sitting on a hillside in its own grass garden, easily reached by short length of hard farm track from the A835, and about two miles from the coast.
It enjoys panoramic views of the strath and any wildlife therein, and offers countless opportunities for walking, and for car or boat- excursions. From Ullapool you can take the ferry to Stornoway and The Outer Hebrides, from Achiltibuie you can sail to The Summer Isles, from Tarbet north of Scourie you can sail to one of the largest seabird colonies in north-west Europe on Handa Island, and all the small roads around the indented coast are well worth exploring for picnic spots with spectacular views.
Double-glazed, well-insulated, and with total control central-heating, this is an ideal house for a holiday at any time of the year. There is a Pay phone.
