Tweedknowe House
Melrose
Scottish Borders

Sleeping 14

Tweedknowe is a most imposing semi-detached Victorian house, standing in a quiet cul-de-sac just a few minutes walk from the centre of Melrose, one of the most attractive of the Border towns, which nestles under the Eildon Hills.

On three levels, and most beautifully furnished and appointed, it is a unique and luxurious holiday home for up to ten people. Next door is Tweedmount, which also sleeps up to 13 people; booked together, they are therefore perfect for large family get-togethers and celebrations.

Tweedknowe has two sitting rooms, and a games room, so tenants have plenty room to spread themselves. Outside, there is a secluded garden (furniture) with patio area and off-road parking for several vehicles.

Garden

Only thirty miles from the English border and thirty miles from Edinburgh, Melrose is a very accessible venue. The town is a delight, with excellent restaurants, pubs and interesting shops. There are good walks straight from the house - up the Eildon Hills, along the famous River Tweed which flanks the town (fishermen take note!) or on the Southern Upland Way which also passes close by. Melrose has an attractive nine-hole golf course and there are many other excellent courses in the area. There are tennis courts in the nearby Gibson Park, and riding at Cowdenknowes (4m). Melrose is also the home of the Rugby Sevens game; the 'Melrose Sevens' take place in mid April and attract teams from all over the world. The historic ruin of Melrose Abbey is in the town itself, Sir Walter Scott's home of Abbotsford is 3 miles away, and there are more stately homes, castles, (ruined or otherwise) and historic buildings in the area than can possibly be visited in a week's stay.

One of the most beautiful parts of Scotland, with both the coast and the hills easily accessible, the whole area amply repays exploration. Tweedknowe is a perfect base from which to see and experience it all.

Heating is by gas fired central heating (included!included) and open fire. Bed linen and towels are included!included. Well behaved pets are welcome by arrangement.
