Eskside West bed and breakfast

This 200 year old stone-built terraced cottage, originally a fisherman's home, stands on the edge of the river Esk in Musselburgh 25 minutes by bus from Central Edinburgh.

Here in her prettily decorated home full of flowers, books and paintings Annie Deacon offers bed and breakfast and a friendly welcome to visitors from all over the world. Annie speaks Italian and understands some French and German. She is also a professional cook and makes delicious breakfasts just as you would like.

For other meals there are several excellent restaurants within easy walking distance: Lucca's famous Ice Cream Parlour, Caprice, and Lana Thai, "the best Thai restaurant in the East of Scotland". 15 minutes away by car are all the Pubs and Restaurants of Edinburgh's Leith.

Some local attractions: Musselburgh Racecourse, the Bird Sanctuary at Aberlady Bay, the famous golf courses of East Lothian - or visitors may buy a permit locally for £2 a day and fly-fish for Salmon, Sea Trout and Rainbow Trout.

Breakfast:

Breakfast is served until 9am.

Cereal and fruit juice, fresh sliced fruit and Greek yoghurt, malted granary toast, Home-made jams and marmalades tea and coffee and a full cooked Scottish Breakfast which can include bacon and oatmeal patties; an omlette made with herbs from the garden; smoked salmon and fresh trout fishcakes.

Annie is a professional cook and is happy to cater for special diets - given some advance notice. Her emphasis throughout is on high quality cooking and healthy ingredients!

Tariff:

From £23 to £25 per person per night based on two people sharing a room, and including breakfast.

Open at both Christmas and New Year. Annie also makes a main meal as well as a special breakfast (for more details please enquire).

Smoking is restricted to the downstairs of the house.

Children over 12 are welcome.
