The Original Raj Hotel is a unique and unexpected delight in Scotland's capital city: comfortable modern bed and breakfast accommodation with an Indian theme. It is owned and run by the Miah family who have chosen decor, fabric, furniture and objects to evoke the atmosphere and romance of India. Tommy Miah founded The Raj, Edinburgh's best Indian Restaurant in Leith, well known and much liked for many years.

The hotel is a substantial Victorian house between Murrayfield and Haymarket train station, about a mile or 5 minutes by bus from the west end of Princes Street (and between the centre of Edinburgh and Edinburgh airport).

There are 17 bedrooms in all, with en suite bathrooms , Television, Telephone, tea and coffee making facilities and trouser press.

Continental breakfast is served buffet style in the dining room which has a great silver elephant throne from Jaipur.

There is a choice of cereals, fruit, fruit juice, croissants, cheese, toast, tea and coffee, with spiced samosas and pakora too.

Prices range from £40 to £75 (depending on the season) per person per night, based on two people sharing, and including breakfast.
