With a couple of acres of grass and tall broadleaf trees in the middle and a no-through road, Saxe-Coburg Place is one of the most pleasant and quiet Georgian squares in Edinburgh.
Diana and Charlie McMicking live at number 24 (in the centre of the photograph) and have three bedrooms on their lower-ground garden-level floor especially for bed and breakfast guests. Access is by stone steps (right) to the small courtyard and guests' front door. Tall people will especially enjoy staying in the double bedroom. It has a seven foot long bed, a long bath and tall shower.

Saxe-Coburg Place was designed by James Milne 1821. The wonderfull walk to Princes Street through Edinburgh's Georgian New Town - now a World Heritage site - takes about 15 minutes. If you want to take a bus there's a regular 5 minute service from the bus-stop 200 yards away.

Just to the left of the gable end in the photograph you can see the pedimented arch of Glenogle Baths, small Victorian baths (25 metre pool, sauna, gym, etc.) open to the public.

There's metered parking in the square and free parking 20 to 25 minutes walk away. Around the corner in Stockbridge 'village' there are small shops (including the excellent cheese shop, Mellis), delicatessens and cafés.

A generous continental breakfast is served in the hall: cereal, fruit, yoghurt, croissants, toast, jams, fresh coffee, tea, etc.

In warm weather it is possible to have breakfast on the pretty garden terrace.

Also, there is a small kitchen in the basement which visitors can use for tea and coffee making and for chilling wine/drinks in the fridge.
