Stewart and Maggie offer an especially warm welcome to their self catering in Craigellachie, an ideal location from which to spend a few days exploring the castles, whiskey distilleries, abbeys and countryside of this part of the Highlands of Scotland.

The picture above right is one of Maggie's paintings. The circle shows the location of the house in Craigellachie. It's a traditional house, circa 1850, and overlooks the River Spey, with steps from the garden down to the Speyside Way where there's a walkers' trail along the river.

The small village of Craigellachie is one of the prettiest in Scotland. Spanning the river below is the remarkable iron bridge built by Telford in 1814. This area is the heart of the Malt Whisky Trail, and concentrated within a few miles are more distilleries than any other area in Scotland, many of them open to visitors. Stewart is a member of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society!

All around Craigellachie there are wonderful walks and places of interest to visit on foot... or you can rent a bicycle. There's so much to see and do!
