River Esk and Cottages at Elginhaugh

1, Elginhaugh is part of a small row of 200 year old stone-built mill-workers cottages hidden in the countryside down a 1/4 mile drive, yet only 6 miles south of Edinburgh.

It was converted from two cottages by Amanda and James Barnes, who live with their family in the miller's house at the end of the row, and is available as rental accommodation on a self-catering basis, sleeping 3 (plus 1 on a sofa bed).

The cottage doesn't have its own garden but guests are welcome to make use of the surrounding 35 acres of fields woodland and river walks. The lawn in front of the cottage goes down to the River Esk (which is unfenced, so children should be supervised) and at the end of the row is the old mill, now a romantic ivy-covered ruin.

Elginhaugh is close to Edinburgh (buses about 5 mins walk away), even closer to Dalkieth and Eskbank which have shops, pubs and restaurants, and also ideal for walking in the Pentland Hills, exploring the castles, houses and historic countryside of the Edinburgh area.
