Markle House is a large country house with a 16th century core, modified in Georgian and Victorian times to make it what is now; the family home of Carina and Jim McGuinness, very comfortable, relaxed, and with a lovely mature garden.

The McGuinnesses welcome guests for bed and breakfast and Carina can also provide an evening meal (with advance notice).

East Lothian is famous for golf and Markle House is very close to over a dozen golf courses in East Lothian (including Gullane and Muirfield), and Jim himself is a keen golfer. In fact there are 10 courses within 15 - 20 minutes from Markle House. Carina caters very well for golfing parties and there's lots of space to dry and store golf equipment.

Markle House is 20 mins by car to the centre of Edinburgh (and 20 by train from nearby North Berwick). Both Carina and Jim know Edinburgh well and can advise and give ideas about how to make the best of the city.

This twin bedroom is available if an extra room is needed to accommodate children or for use when friends travelling together do not mind sharing a bathroom with one of the other rooms.

Breakfast (and optional Dinner):

Breakfast, served in the Dining Room, is a traditional cooked breakfast with free range organic eggs; also fruit, yogurt, cereals, fresh coffee and tea...

Carina very much enjoys cooking for her guests. If you would like dinner when you arrive please let her know at least 24 hours in advance. You can discuss the menu and any special dietary requirements. Carina chooses the best local produce and Markle House also has its own vegetable garden.

Dining Room

Tariff:

£37.50 per person per night based on two people sharing a room, and including breakfast.

Dinner is £25 per person. Carina can also make packed lunches or picnics.
