Stobo Home Farm

Stobo Home Farm,
Stobo,
Peebles,
Scotland

The valley of the River Tweed around Peebles has gently rounded heather topped hills, majestic broadleaf woodlands and an unspoilt rural atmosphere. Stobo is at the heart of one of only two National Scenic Areas in the Borders, yet is only 28 miles from Edinburgh and 42 from Glasgow.

The Home Farm was originally the factor's house for the Stobo Estate, and is a traditional Peeblesshire farmhouse built around a courtyard, Georgian in origin, with Victorian additions, and an entrance under a small Scottish Baronial turret.

It is the family home of Georgina and Hugh Seymour who warmly welcome guests to stay for bed and breakfast (dinner and picnics also available).

Stobo japanese garden

For Garden Lovers:
The Japanese Water Garden. The garden at Stobo Home Farm is delightful in itself, but staying here you have the added advantage of being able to visit the famous 5 acre Japanese Water Garden (right), hidden a couple of hundred yards away across the croquet lawn in the valley below. This is not normally open to the public, except under Scotland's Garden Scheme once a year.

Dawyck Botanical Gardens - internationally famous plant collection and arboretum - is a two minute drive away. Other gardens, such as Kailzie (fishery and osprey watch) are nearby.

Special garden tour package deals can be arranged by the Seymours. For groups of six or more (with additional local accommodation), they include visits to private gardens, usually day trips.

Stobo Home Farm is ideally suited for visitors to Stobo Castle Health Spa, which now offers Day Treatment Sessions. It is a 6 minute walk to the Castle through the Japanese Water Garden.

Accommodation:

The house has three twin bedrooms. Two have a private bathroom and one has a dressing room with an extra single bed and bathroom en suite. All bedrooms have a kettle for tea and coffee making. The beds have electric blankets.

Guests are welcome to use the Sitting Room ( with TV) which overlooks the garden.
