Colislinn

Along a little-known road two and a half miles south of Hawick, a private bridge over a tree-covered river marks the entrance to Colislinn. The drive sweeps around and up under mature beeches and firs, past the little burn with the waterfalls (linns) from which the house takes its name.

Colislinn was built by a local architect in 1896, in classic Arts and Crafts style, with mini turrets and carved stone detail - a tip of the hat to the Scottish Borders tradition of castles, peel towers and rievers. It is surrounded by 8 acres of gardens and woodland, has lovely views over the river and across the valley, and has an atmosphere of secluded self-contained privacy.

Available for self-catering rental by the week, the house sleeps 8 to 10 people. This is a much loved family home so don't be put off by a few bumps, scratches and worn patches; Colislinn has a wonderful romantic atmosphere and is ideal for a family or friends for a base from which to explore Southern Scotland, or simply stay at home, relax and play in the garden, go for walks and swim in the river.
