David Batson and David Rone Allen welcome guests to stay for bed and breakfast in their guest wing - ideal for two - with a double bedroom and bathroom, but with an extra single bedroom if you are a party of three travelling together.

Surrounded by gardens, Kindar House is on the edge of the small quiet village of New Abbey about 15 minutes along the coast from Dumfries. In the village are the red sandstone ruins of late 13th century Cistercian Sweetheart Abbey and a 200 year old Corn Mill. On the other side of the village is Shambellie House Museum of Costume (especially good for costumes 1850 - 1950).

David Batson is an Anglican priest and is able to provide a service for those who would like to have their marriage blessed or renew their vows.

The house itself is fascinating: granite and sandstone, classical rural Scottish vernacular of 1820, a hint of the Gothic , and an interior with some interesting variations of Georgian decorative style and motifs. David Rone Allen is an interior designer and the house is arranged and furnished exactly in keeping; dignified yet comfortable, cosy and informal.
