View from the front of the house

Swanshiel is a traditional farm cottage. It is situated in the middle of Hartshaugh, a 430 acre mixed farm among the rolling hills and wooded valleys of the Scottish Borders. It is about an hour and a half from Edinburgh and Newcastle. The house faces south and has beautiful views in all directions. The photograph (right) shows the view from the front of the house.

The roads around about are small with little traffic, and Swanshiel itself is on its own at the end of a 150 yard drive, so this is a peaceful place. From every window are views of unspoilt rural Borders countryside, and around the house is an enclosed grass garden, ideal for children. Bonchester Bridge is 5 minutes away, and has a village shop and a pub with good food.

Owners Toby and Emma Tennant have modernised the house and it has central heating and partial double glazing, and can accommodate 6 comfortably.
