INFORMATION FOR DISABLED VISITORS

Wheel Chair Users

Traquair welcomes all visitors but unfortunately we cannot make the house fully accessible to wheel chair users. However, we have recently introduced a video tour of the house which can be viewed on the ground floor by request. The video lasts approximately 15 minutes and is an informative history of the family and tour of the house.

The following parts of Traquair are accessible by wheelchair.

Parking

Disabled Visitors may be dropped off in front of the house and cars parked a short distance away. Please ask at the ticket box when you arrive.

Grounds

Tarmac drives and reasonable access to brewery if dry. The walled garden is grassed with mown lawns as is the back of the house near maze. We are currently developing a short woodland walk to be fully accessible for wheelchairs.

1745 Cottage Restaurant

On ground level. Enter by front entrance.

Toilets

Portakabin toilets near Restaurant include disabled toilet with ramp.

Shops

Gift and Brewery Shops have one step to entrance. Please ask the assistant for a temporary ramp.

House

Wings including Chapel and Dining Room are accessible and in house entrance hall and Still Room can be viewed. The latter room is where the video tour can be viewed.

Events

Disabled parking available at all our events and for the most part are full accessible if held outside but please contact us for details.

Other disabilities

Information about the house is also available in large print. A loop system is available for the video tour. Please ask for details at the front door.
