Learmont Mackenzie Travel, founded by two knowledgeable and experienced walkers, Alastair Learmont and Kitty Bruce-Gardyne (Mackenzie), offers programmes of short walking breaks among the beautiful hills and valleys of the Scottish Borders.
Circular day walks begin from various locations in the Borders, such as Melrose, Selkirk or Innerleithen. Weekend breaks are based in comfortable hotels, such as Fauhope House in Gattonside, by Melrose. All destinations are easily accessible from Edinburgh, usually an hour's drive.
Alastair and Kitty believe that deeply satisfying walking combines pleasurable awareness of both landscape and history.
Day walks and week-end walking programmes consist of non-competitive perambulations over wild heather covered hills, along ancient sheep and cattle drove roads, through wooded valleys, visiting historic houses and gardens along the way.
Alastair and Kitty also offer a combination of walking weekends focused on matters of cultural interest: Sir Walter Scott, Gardens, Abbeys and Music are just some of the themes which they cover
