The entrance is just down Cranston Street but this second floor apartment is right on the Royal Mile looking down Canongate and up to medieval John Knox House (only 50 yards away) and St Giles Cathedral. Wonderfully central for enjoying Edinburgh, it's about half way between Edinburgh Castle and the Palace of Holyrood House. The owner has completely renovated the apartment in great style, laying down wide-board Swedish oak flooring, installing a new kitchen and designing luxurious 21st century bathrooms. The living room is lit by two windows on the south; one has a balcony looking up the Royal Mile. There's a shop for bread, milk and groceries on the corner below, French delicacies in Plaisir du Chocolat just opposite, and pubs, cafés and restaurants all around. There's secure NCP parking two minutes away on New Street, and if you are arriving by train, Edinburgh Waverley Station is only 150 yards around the corner.

This apartment is smart and well-kept, but like many other Old Town Edinburgh properties the street-level entrance and common stairway within are functional, but less well looked after. Please tell Jon you found 1 Cranston Street through About Scotland! |
