On a gentle rise overlooking the small town of Linlithgow Garden Cottage is secluded by trees shrubs and old stone walls with its own south facing terrace. It used to be a stable cottage and has now been imaginatively converted into a comfortable self catering cottage by architect Thom Pollock and his wife Clare who live close by. An off road parking space is available for the exclusive use of guests, and access to the cottage from your car is by way of a stepped path, lined with laurels, through the owner's garden. (If you are worried about the steps do contact the owners to discuss further). |

The Palace of Linlithgow, 800 years old Royal residence and birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots has some of the finest Medieval and Renaissance architecture in Scotland. Both the Palace and the tower of St Michaels church can be seen from the cottage over the rooftops (right). Linlithgow itself is a charming market town with pubs, restaurants and shops. Being so central in Scotland it is an excellent base for visiting Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling (each about 30 minutes away by car or regular train service) or the Scottish Borders, the Southern Highlands or St Andrews and the Kingdom of Fife. There are 2 country parks nearby. Linlithgow has its own golf courses and leisure centre. You can visit the Falkirk Wheel by boat trip along the Union canal from Linlithgow canal basin. Also, just 20 minutes drive away is McArthur Glen, Scotland's largest Designer Outlet and leisure centre at Livingston. Linlithgow has a mainline railway station and so is ideal if you don't have a car. |
