Combining local vernacular and Arts and Crafts styles to charming effect The Dean was built in 1923 by renowned Edinburgh architects Dick Peddie and is a category B listed building.
Guests are welcome to relax in the Drawing Room.
Caroline Scott welcomes guests to stay for bed and breakfast at her family home, The Dean, on the edge of Longdiddry golf course, just east of Edinburgh.
Two of three guest bedrooms look over the 5th green and have views across the Firth of Forth to the Kingdom of Fife. The other has views over the garden. There's a tennis court (on which you are welcome to play), woodland walks, and because the house is on the edge of Longniddry village it's only a five minute walk to the local pubs and an excellent restaurant.
The Dean has really easy access to Edinburgh (under 20 minutes by bus, train or car) and is in the midst of some of the finest golf courses in Scotland (19 of them are shown in the map further down this page).
This is a friendly and informal place to stay. Caroline has lived in East Lothian all her life in addition to providing help with booking golf, she is always happy give advice about where to go and what to see, from ruined castles and a whisky distillery, to sandy beaches, nature reserves, coastal walks and island boat trips, and, of course, shopping and site-seeing in Edinburgh.

In the large open Kitchen is a dining area where Caroline serves breakfast.
Caroline makes fresh coffee and tea or hot chocolate and a cooked Scottish breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausages, croissants, rolls, toast (from the local bakery) as well as a choice of cereals and fruit salad.
Special diets catered for with advance notice.
Evening meals:
East Lothian has some excellent restaurants, and the local pub is known for its good food. It is very close, only about 5 minutes walk.
You can also take the train in and out of Edinburgh - Longniddry station is 5 minutes drive away. Edinburgh to Longniddry takes 16 minutes.
