Drawing room

Afternoon light floods into the Drawing Room.

Chipperkyle, Catriona and Willie Dickson's family home, is a beautiful 18th century Scottish Georgian Laird's House situated in 200 acres of gently rolling green farmland about 15 miles west of Dumfries.

Catriona and Willie offer a genuinely warm welcome to bed and breakfast guests - whether you are looking for a base for exploring this lovely part of Scotland or need a break travelling to or from Northern Ireland via the ferry at Stranraer.

The landscape of this part of Scotland seems always to be soft, green and peaceful. The two guest bedrooms (top two windows facing the sun, above right) have views of garden, fields and woodland all the way to the horizon (the photograph at the top of the page was taken from one of the bedroom windows). Grazing in the meadow are belted Galloway cattle, sheep, a pony and donkeys - what could be a better start to the day than to wander past the old stable block and doocot to say good morning to them?
