Driving and Detours:
Approximate distance: 30 miles or 48 km
The main road, the M80 motorway is the quick way to get between Glasgow and Stirling.
However there are more interesting routes, especially the A811 which heads out west through Kippen and Drymen at the southern end of Loch Lomond. Then the road turns south to Glasgow.

From the A811 there are numerous detours, the best being into the Trossachs (Aberfoyle, A81), where you can experience some magnificent scenery of mountains and lochs.
Right;
Inchmahome Priory.
Mary Queen of Scots stayed at Inchmahome Priory (now ruined but open to the public in summer months) on an island in the Lake of Menteith. This is one of the most peaceful and rewarding places to visit!
